Douglass Geomatics Ltd provides a comprehensive topographical (land survey) service in response to your specific requirements and brief. We offer experienced professionals, backed up by highly versatile computer software and the latest survey instruments.
We are able to supply an efficient, cost effective, competitively priced service. We are competitive throughout the UK and the Channel Islands and will provide a service wherever and whenever our clients demand it.
A topographic survey is a vital component in the design process for a site, and should be sought before any detailed design works takes place. An accurate survey can prevent costly assumptions being made about the size of the site, or about other constraints such as site levels and heights and positions of surrounding buildings.
We are always happy to discuss your requirements and offer advice if required.
Douglass Geomatics can measure inaccessible positions with laser technology to produce accurate elevation drawings. Depending on the detail required we can use pulse lasers, 3D scanning technology and photogrammetry.
We can produce drawings of practically any site. Some elevations are drawn using data taken from 3D laser scanners where required, and the level of detail for a site doesn’t affect the instrument’s ability to capture all features of the building being surveyed.
When disputes arise regarding the correct position of legal boundaries between parcels of land, we can assist property owners and solicitors in the interpretation of title plans, giving a more comprehensive understanding of their boundary position, in the form of desktop study or by measuring boundary features on the property.
Ideally, both properties should be measured to ensure all findings made by us are impartial. We are not legal experts so a solicitor may be needed prior or during the course of the project.
We can measure and advise on:
Physical and Land Registry / Ordnance Survey features
Historical alignments of boundaries
Expert opinion of boundary alignment
Liaise with solicitors to explain and discuss our findings
We have great experience undertaking initial site inspections through to undertaking site measurements, accurately marking out boundary alignments (either jointly agreed between neighbours or as instructed by solicitors or the Courts) and producing dimensional plans.
River Cross Section Surveys
Douglass Geomatics provide high quality data for the ever increasing flood defence market.
We undertake hydrographic surveys for a variety of clients and industries.
Data can be provided in a variety of formats which can be imported into modelling software - cross sections, long sections, 3D models, csv files and Hecras etc.
These surveys are carried out in a similar way as topographical surveys, but with centring on the geometric shape of the landform for accurate 3D models to be produced to measure accurate volumes of specific landfills, stockpiles or quarry faces.
Using the very latest modelling software, combined with information we gather on site, we can compute the volume of cut and fill required for the development of a site, we can monitor fill rates for landfill sites, or calculate settlements for finished projects. We can also provide detailed quantity analysis for individual site elements i.e roads, bases and landscaping.
Plans are available in colour and in digital as well as hard copy format using AutoCAD compatible software. Clients are always impressed with the final result we present.
Measured Building Surveys
With staff costs rising many Architects and Property Professionals find our service more competitive and time efficient than using their own resources.
With our digital instrumentation and on-site processing abilities, we are able to produce plans, elevations and sections representing the existing building, accurately, quickly and at less cost to the client than more traditional tape measure surveys.
Whatever the end use, be it record drawings, fire plans, lease plans, or for use in development, the digital data is immediately useful to Architects, Planners, Engineers and other non-construction professionals.
We are able to provide floor plans based on individual floor levels or a complete fully connected survey using a traditional internal traverse.
